Colombia is on FTX’s blocked list: what it means for your claim

Creditors in Colombia get stuck on the FTX claims portal just like those in mainland China or Russia: KYC is done, the tax form is in, and the payout never arrives.

Where the payout stops

FTX pays only through BitGo, Kraken and Payoneer, and choosing one is step 8 of the claims portal. FTX’s support page lists Colombia among the jurisdictions whose residents can’t select any of them.

In Latin America, only Cuba and Honduras are on that list alongside Colombia. Until a provider starts serving Colombia, there is nothing to choose at step 8, and no payout.

The deadline

FTX says a creditor who doesn’t onboard with a payout provider within six months of the July 31, 2026 distribution may lose the right to their distributions. That window closes around January 31, 2027.

Two ways forward

  • Wait. FTX gives no date for a provider in Colombia. If you can’t finish step 8 by January 31, 2027, FTX may cancel your right to payouts altogether, so waiting can end with nothing.
  • Sell your claim. ClaimBao buys FTX claims from creditors in Colombia who pass KYC and pays in USDT or USDC. You don’t need a provider in your country: after the transfer, FTX pays us.

How selling works

Send us your FTX customer code and the claim amount, and a person replies with a price. You pass a short KYC and sign a transfer agreement, and we file the notice of transfer with the US bankruptcy court. USDT or USDC reaches your wallet on the date written in the agreement.
